I just received some new lighting!! And it's been really fun experimenting with the new equipment. When I shoot with lights, I normally shoot with strobes, ie. the lights that are triggered by the camera which typically use up a ton of power and send off a huge amount of light.
Westcott allowed me the opportunity to check out their Halogen hot lights, modifiers, and Halo. They give off a constant stream of light which is less powerful than the stobes, and depending on the bulbs that you use, you can make the light emission warmer or cooler. A huge benefit to the lower light source is that it allows me to shoot with a shallow depth of field making the background blurry and out of focus.
